The traditional welcome sets the mood for the beginning of your adventure. Soak up the wonderful scenery as your guided kayak group paddles a short way across the calm blue waters to South Stradbroke Island. Keep watch for an array of sea-life you may encounter along the way – dolphins, stingray and birdlife.
Enjoy a traditional hunt before surrendering to the aroma of morning tea - fresh fruit and tasty damper bread served with traditional fruit jam and billy tea. Then it’s time to invoke all five of your senses to investigate the ancient tracks as your indigenous guide paints a picture of the aboriginals, ceremonies, land and wildlife as it has been over thousands of years.
Explore the bush tucker trail and try your hand at some traditional indigenous skills until the irresistible scent of lunch - fish prepared in the traditional way, chicken kebabs, salad and damper draws you back for a hearty break in an area rich in local wildlife - tame Golden Swamp wallabies (which are unique to this island) and goanna.
The paddle home, although just 30 minutes, provides the time to reflect on this awesome adventure and the wonders of the aboriginal culture, nature and the sea.
